Week 7 Reflection PowerPoint Presentation and Wordle

Task 1

To complete this weeks class successfully we had to maneuver the PowerPoint presentation software. What made this lesson  different was because it was so interactive. Random students were selected to complete a particular task and got help from the class if they were stuck. During this lesson students did the following:

*Locate and open the PowerPoint software on the computer

 *Create, added and designed slides

 *Select themes and backgrounds

*Add and edit texts

*Add images, audio and video

*Apply transitions and effects

This presentation tool can be used in the class room as an introduction or a closure to a lesson. Once used correctly it can add value to your lesson and will gain the students attention. I normally use this software as an introduction when I am teaching a new topic.

                                                                   Task 2

Also I was placed in a group that was given the task to create, define and explain what is WORDLE. I learnt that wordle is a generator of word clouds from the text provided. The more you add a particular text the larger it got.  The goal of this task was to complete a word cloud based on FOOD.The following lists the steps that were taken to create the word cloud:

1. Download wordle from Google

2. Open the software on the computer to ensure that it is working

3.Manuever the software to meet  the goal

4. Produce the wordle document to meet  the goal

The challenges to complete this task  and meet the goal was endless. We could not get to download and run the software. After multiple attempts we found out the reason for this was due to the fact that the browsers we were using which was Google Chrome and  Firefox were not compatible which led us to use Internet Explorer. We also found out that we had to download and use Adobe acrobat for the software to work effectively. After trying countless times we were still not successful in downloading and using the software.  To improvise for the presentation we googled what the software was and how it can be used. The day before the presentation a group member got the software to work which resulted in us meeting our goal. This presentation tool can be used in the classroom so the students can express their creativity and  help them to think critically which is what I plan on doing upon my return.
